2017 Streetscape Improvements

The 2017 Streetscape Improvements Project includes the blocks within the River Myrtle-Old Boise District on Main Street, 6th Street, and Capitol Boulevard, as well as a half block in the Westside District on Main Street. Construction started on the 2017 Streetscape Improvements in August 2017 and is expected to be completed by November 2017.

The project includes 5 block faces with improvements including new sidewalks, curb and gutter, street trees and grates, historic streetlights, pedestrian ramps, and furnishings such as bike racks, litter receptacles and benches for public use. The streetscapes are constructed per the Boise City Streetscape Standards Manual using brick and concrete sidewalks. The project also includes installation Silva Cells, a Tree and Stormwater Management System. Silva cells are a suspended pavement system that allows street trees to grow larger and live longer healthier lives in an urban environment.

Streetscape Improvements between 6th and 5th Streets – Tree grates are scheduled to be installed next week depending on arrival date. Tree guards will be installed following tree grates.

Streetscape Improvements between 6th and Capitol – Tree grates are scheduled to be installed next week depending on arrival date. Tree guards will be installed following tree grates. Up lights in the sidewalks have been installed, adjustments to be made next week.

Streetscape Improvements east side of 6th between Main and Grove Street – Guho has completed the accessible parking stall. Landscape repair / cleanup scheduled for next week.

Streetscape Improvements east side of Capitol south of Main – Guho has installed brick paving, asphalt paving, striping, street lights and street trees. Tree grates are scheduled to be installed next week depending on arrival date. Tree guards will be installed following tree grates.

Streetscape Improvements north side of Main east of 14th Street – Concrete has been completed, trees and street lights have been installed. Asphalt paving is scheduled for next Wednesday.

Streetscape Improvements east side of Capitol south of Main – Guho has installed brick paving, asphalt paving, street lights and street trees. Tree grates are scheduled to ship next week. Up lights in the sidewalks are currently being installed. Tree guards are scheduled to be installed tomorrow.

 

Streetscape Improvements north side of Main east of 14th Street – Silva cells have been installed. Guho has poured curb and gutter. The approach will be poured in the morning so it will be cured by Monday. Sidewalks are scheduled to be poured out by the end of next week, street trees and street lights are scheduled to be installed as well. Asphalt paving is scheduled for end of next week or the beginning of the following.

Streetscape Improvements east side of 6th between Main and Grove Street – Guho has installed the accessible parking stall and has rebuilt the curb adjacent the alley to improve safety. Asphalt has been patched back.

Streetscape Improvements east side of Capitol south of Main – Guho is currently installing brick paving which should be largely completed today. Street Lights are scheduled to be installed this week and trees are currently scheduled to be planted Friday.

 

 

Streetscape Improvements north side of Main east of 14th Street – Construction is underway. Guho will start off working from Hurless Brothers’ door westward, then will move from the door to the east. Construction at this location is scheduled to be completed by Thanksgiving.

Streetscape Improvements east side of Capitol south of Main – Guho has installed the northern bank of Silva Cells. They will be installing the southern bank as well as curb and gutter this coming week.

Streetscape Improvements north side of Main east of 14th Street – Construction is scheduled to start on October 30th.

Streetscape Improvements east side of Capitol south of Main – Guho has installed a new storm drain line. They are anticipating starting excavation for the northern Silva Cell assembly this coming Monday.

Streetscape Improvements between 6th and 5th Streets – This portion has been reopened for pedestrian traffic. Tree grates and trees to be installed later this fall. Street lights have been installed and should be operational for this evening.

Streetscape Improvements between 6th and Capitol – Guho has installed brick pavers, bike racks and street lights this week. Brick pavers have been completed to approximately Hannah’s front door.  Street lights should be operational this evening and will be welcomed for Old Boise’s Oktoberfest tomorrow.

Streetscape Improvements east side of Capitol south of Main – Guho is anticipating starting work on this area this Sunday evening. This will largely be night work as required by ACHD from 7pm to 7am. They will be working from Main Street, south to Goldy’s door to maintain access to the business.

Streetscape Improvements between 6th and 5th Streets – This portion has been reopened for pedestrian traffic. Tree grates and trees to be installed later this fall. Guho is working with ACHD to temporarily reopen parking at this area prior to paving.

Streetscape Improvements between 6th and Capitol – Guho has installed curb and gutter, light pole bases and tree frames this week. They will be working tomorrow to install bike racks and prepare the area for brick pavers which will begin installation Monday. Brick Pavers are expected to be installed to the entry of Humpin’ Hannah’s by the end of next week, in time for Old Boise Oktoberfest on September 30th.

Streetscape Improvements between 6th and 5th Streets – This portion has been reopened for pedestrian traffic. Tree grates are scheduled to be installed prior to September 30th and trees will be planted in October. Asphalt paving is a few weeks out due to weekend work requirements and activities in downtown. Guho is working with ACHD to temporarily reopen parking at this area prior to paving.

 Streetscape Improvements between 6th and Capitol – Guho has finished their Silva Cell installation this week and the streetscapes will be graveled up and the safety fence pulled back to provide a larger walk way and accommodate pedestrian activity this weekend. Next week, Guho will be installing curb and gutter and demolishing half of the corner at Main and Capitol.

Streetscape Improvements east side of Capitol south of Main – This portion of the project is scheduled to start around the 25th of this month, depending on road closure allowances from ACHD.

Streetscape Improvements between 6th and 5th Streets – Guho has completed brick paver installation and this block will reopen for pedestrian traffic today. Tree grates are scheduled to be installed prior to September 30th and Trees will be planted in October.

Streetscape Improvements between 6th and Capitol – Guho has demo’d this block and will have it graveled up with a temporary walkway today. Next week, they will install Silva Cells, back fill and gravel it up for the weekend again.

 

Streetscape Improvements east side of Capitol south of Main – This portion of the project is scheduled to start between the 15th and 25th of this month, depending on road closure allowances from ACHD.

Streetscape Improvements between 6th and 5th Streets – Guho has completed Silva Cell installation at this location. They have finished pouring curb & gutter, pedestrian ramps, driveway approaches and a vault lid.  Guho is currently installing brick pavers adjacent 5th Street and will be working their way west, wrapping up brick by the middle of next week. Following the brick, street lights and bike racks will be installed and asphalt patched and striped. The streetscapes are anticipated to be fully reopened by the end of next week.

Streetscape Improvements between 6th and Capitol –Guho is planning to start demo on this portion of streetscapes next Tuesday (9/5). The heavy demo (concrete removal and so forth) is scheduled to occur on Wednesday (9/6).

Streetscape Improvements on 6th
Guho will be back to complete a few more items on 6th Street once more of Main Street is complete. Remaining items include sidewalk repairs adjacent the alley south of Main on the east side and an ADA parking stall adjacent Grove on the east side.

Streetscape Improvements between 6th and 5th Streets
Guho has completed Silva Cell installation at this location. They have poured curb & gutter from 5th Street to approximately mid-block.  They have poured ramps and an approach adjacent 5th Street. Next week, Guho is scheduled to complete curb & gutter and begin installing brick pavers towards the end of the week. **Brick paver installation will make business access challenging at times. Guho will be working closely with the businesses to identify the best times to install brick adjacent to the respective storefronts**

This schedule has shifted slightly – Guho is anticipating starting work between 6th and Capitol the week after Labor Day Weekend.
